Distributing medical supplies from India to Sri Lanka

Posted Date : 12/31/2004
Immediately after the tsunami disaster, Dr. Sunil Wimalawansa, President of I-FREED arranged with two largest Pharmaceutical Companies in India to purchase medical supplies in bulk and to airlift these urgent medical supplies to Sri Lanka. This was an efficient and cost-effective way of reaching the badly needed urgent medical supplies to hospitals in affected areas of the country. Initial supplies were distributed directly to the hospitals in the Galle district, one of the worst affected by the tsunami via Sri Lankan distributors of these pharmaceutical companies. First of these deliveries were made by 29th of December 2004, within 2-days of the tsunami disaster.
