Providing School Supplies to Affected Children in Hambantota District

I-FREED was informed by the Udugama Sumangala Foundation (USF) in Sri Lanka that several thousand children need basic school supplies to start the new school year. Most of these children were left with nothing and need school supplies to begin classes. I-FREED has released US$ 5,180 for this effort.

This morning (January 13, 2005) a check for Rs. 400,000 was handed over to the Director, National Institute of Health Sciences, Kalutara at the Office of the Prime Minister for the "Helping Hambantota" Project.
The donation will be used for tailoring school uniforms for 2,000 affected students at Rs.200 each.
