Clothing Donation Drive

Posted Date : 01/20/2005 CST
People from all over USA has dropped off and mailed slightly used clothes to be delivered to the people who lost everything due to the Tsunami. The clothing donation has been spontaneous. The Houston Temple is overflowing with clothing and no longer accepts clothing as donations.

Girl Scouts helping to sort, pack and box clothing
I-FREED and the Sri Lankan-American community sent out a request to help us sort, pack and box the mountain of clothing that had accumulated at the Temple. The Houston Girl Scout troop responded to our call and came at 9.00am on January 15 (Saturday), 2005 to help us.
The girls jumped to the task and in a matter of hours reduced the pile of clothes and ended up with a huge stack of boxes neatly labeled with information on the contents of each box.  The Sri Lankan-American Community, the Houston Buddhist Vihara and I-FREED thanks Ms. Carmen Lennon for organizing the visit and the Girl Scouts troop and parents, who too time off from their busy schedule to help in the Tsunami Relief efforts.
