Posted Date : 01/13/2005 CST Several families Clear Lake, and South west side of Houston organized a fund raising event at area Wal-Mart stores. The event was held at the Wal-Mart stores at FM 518 & Dixie Farm Road, FM518 & SH288 and Westheimer. The families requested Wal-Mart customers to donate for this worthy cause. The drive was a resounding success with people from all walks of life contributing generously to help the tsunami victims. The children participated in the fund raising drive with great enthusiasm and did a marvelous job in requesting donations with some creative posters and slogans. The Houston Sri Lankan-American community and the people of Sri Lanka wish to extend our sincere gratitude to Wal-Mart stores and its customers for their generosity in helping the tsunami victims in Sri Lanka.
