Posted Date : 03/30/2005 CST I-FREED, in support of the exemplary efforts of the Houston Buddhist Vihara home building project for the tsunami affected people, have provided US$ 20,000 for this effort. The funding and implementation of this project will be coordinated through the Attanagalla Raja Maha Vihara in Sri Lanka and the Houston Buddhist Vihara in Houston. I-FREED members and volunteers with close ties to this Houston based temple would like to take this opportunity to thank the Vihara organizing committees in the USA and Sri Lanka for their tireless efforts towards this project. The project location - Ridiyagama is about four miles north of Ambalanthota in the Southern Province of Sri Lanka. This area was severely affected by the tsunami that affected South East Asia in December of 2004. The building project has already started with the initial goal of completing twenty two houses.
