Second medical supply shipment from Houston to Sri Lanka

The second shipment of medical supplies donated by Houston area Hospitals, Medical Clinics and Doctors weighting approx. 1500 lb is ready to be airlifted to Sri Lanka. Cathay Pacific Airlines have agreed to airlift the medical supplies free-of-charge from Los Angeles to Colombo, Sri Lanka. We are trying to get an Airline to air freight the supplies from Houston to Los Angeles. The supplies will be directly distributed to the affected areas through the Alcohol and Drug Information Center (ADIC).

Computer Associates has agreed to Air Freight four pallets of medical supplies to Los Angeles California free-of-charge. We thank Computer Associates and Cathay Pacific Airways for this generous deed.

Update: 1/7/2005 CST
The medical supplies were loaded into a truck at 4.30PM today. The truck did not have a Forklift or a Lift gate to load the pallets on to the truck. The manager of American Distributors (across the street from the Vihara), Jon Quintero, graciously offered us the service of one of the Forklifts to help load the truck. His kindness at this hour of need is greatly appreciated.

The medical supplies arrived at Katunayake International Airport Today. ADIC will clear this shipment from the Ministry of Health Warehouse.

The medical supplies were delivered to the Matara General Hospital by Truck (Lorry) on January 18, 2005.
